How to Give Your Hair A Salon-Worthy Blowout At Home
Aug 30, 2018
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of walking out of the salon with a fresh blowout. There’s a magic that occurs in the salon chair that conjures up a bounce and volume that can’t be replicated anywhere else. Or can it?
Salon-worthy blowouts can be achieved at-home with your own hands. Many of us are skeptical of our abilities to achieve the fullness and smoothness, but the process is surprisingly simple. All you need is the right products and a little bit of patience.
Here’s how to get the blowout of your dreams.
Step 1: First and foremost, shampoo and condition your hair using the CAVIAR Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. Towel-dry your hair to remove any excess water. Make sure you don’t rub your hair with the towel as that will create frizz and start your blowout off on the wrong foot. Instead, wrap your hair tightly in a towel for a few minutes until all the excess water is removed.
Step 2: Before you lift a blow dryer or brush, it’s important to prep the hair properly with a heat protectant spray or cream (or both!). To maximize shine and smoothness, enlist a dry oil like Alterna’s CAVIAR Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Dry Oil Mist that will add shine, tame frizz, protect hair up to 450 degrees farenheit, and leave hair feeling silky smooth. Another great option is Alterna’s CAVIAR Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter, which also tames defiant, cuts blow-dry time by 40%, and protects from heat-styling and humidity. Make sure you don’t overload your hair with product, as it will get weighed down and lose its bounce.
Step 3: Next, use a comb to divide your hair into three equal parts, two equal sides on the top half of the head and a bottom portion. You can twist the sections into buns while you work on another.
Step 4: Grab your blow dryer with a concentrator nozzle and rough dry the section in the back of the head until it’s about 75% dry. Then, use a round brush to grab a two-inch section of hair and wrap it around the brush. Place the nozzle on the hair and follow the motions as you wrap and rewrap the hair with the brush. The nozzle should move with the brush. One thing to note is, when pulling the brush away, make sure you apply tension so the hair between your brush and scalp remains straight. If you don’t do this, you won’t’get the smooth, sleek strands that make a blow-dry beautiful. Repeat this until the section of hair is completely dry. To keep the shape, you can wrap the hair around your finger while the section is still hot from the heart, pin it with bobby pins or secure it with Velcro roller to keep and set the shape.
Step 5: Repeat this process until the section is done and then move on to the next section of damp hair. When starting on a new section, ensure it doesn’t touch the blow-dried hair as that can affect its finish and texture. Once all the hair is blow-dried, apply another spritz or two of the dry oil to smooth down any stray hairs. Finish the blowout with Caviar Anti-Aging Hairspray Brushable, which well help set your hair.
