5 Easy Habits to Enhance Your Morning Routine

We’re not all blessed with the “morning person” gene but some of us really thrive in the AM. You know the type — they’re up at the sound of their first alarm, they go for a run, make a smoothie, complete their Wordle in under 4 and — okay we’re exhausted already.

But — and don’t hate us for saying it — they may be onto something. You may be asking yourself, “Why is a morning routine important?” and it’s pretty simple. Each day is a new opportunity to not just live but to thrive and by stacking the odds in your favor, you’re more likely to achieve your goals and enhance the quality of your day.

Not sure where to begin? These 5 habits are a great place to start:

Get Up and Stay Up

How many times have you rolled over — hit snooze — and then kept sleeping? Or turned off your alarm and immediately started scrolling through your phone? If you answered ‘yes’ to one or both of these — you’re most of us.

The best hack to waking up and staying up is plugging in your phone across the room so you physically have to leave your bed to turn off your alarm.

By forcing yourself into an upright position, your brain is signaled that it’s time to rise and you’ll be less tempted to stay in bed and avoid doing the next 4 healthy habits on this list.

Make Your Bed

It may feel like a small chore but making your bed every morning creates a big impact. A healthy morning routine is cemented by setting the tone as soon as you wake up. By accomplishing your first task of the day you’re already putting yourself in the mindset of getting the work done.

Write in a Gratitude Journal

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: a healthy morning routine is all about setting the right tone and there’s no better way than with powerful morning affirmations. It can feel intimidating to jot down 3 things you’re grateful for at the start of each day but when you really think about it, gratitude has no bounds.
